I have the same problem on my HP Pavilion dv6000 running 9.04 64 bit.
Shutdown does not work in about 40% of attempts and requires me to hold
down the power button to power off the laptop. It appears to happen
more often when the laptop has been running for more than a day. I can

Is there any definite work around for this bug? I tried to Making Alsa
the default for all sound in the preferences>sound but it didn't fix the
issue. Skype blocks Rythmbox if it is being used and Rythmbox blocks
skype if it is being used. Firefox will also block both.

Hello, I ran into the same firmware loading issue after upgrading from
feisty today. I noticed that the firmware loads correctly for the
generic kernel, but not for the 386 kernel. Upon closer inspection, it
looks like I was missing the firmware images in the
/lib/firmware/2.6.22-13-386 directory

I get the following message after actually *removing* trackerd from my
system (tracker package), and then searching in the open dialog (comes

I have been affected by this problem as well, although in my case I was
running a fullscreen game with wine.
In addition, the resolution does not always change back to its original
setting (although this is likely a separate bug) and does not directly
correlate to the experiencing of this issue.
