Immediately the key freezes, with repeat.
No info in dmesg, xsession-errors or Xorg log.
Unplugging keyboard and mouse does not help.

Oh. And the issue only started after updating from Gutsy to Hoary alpha.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

... turning off keyboard repeat does seem to work as a workaround of course.
An annoying workaround.

Public bug reported:
This is a continuation of bug #190968 since I was requested to file.
Similar symptoms, however. A wireless card that worked perfectly before with
ipw3945 suddenly fails to associate a few months into the upgrade to Hardy -
presumably around the time iwl3945 was switched to,
Still failing with linux-backports-modules-2.6.24-16-generic
Restored the udev rule for the hell of it since it seemed to do nothing of any
significance, but that's the reason it is "eth1" below.
Results of ifup - a few new lines, but same old routine.

This was an enormous waste of time.
I'm not sure at what level the issue was, but it centred around having single
quote and space in passphrase (which was a real phrase).
When I removed these, and made passphrase pure alphanumeric, it worked fine.
I only discovered this after switching to WEP and
Thanks for your patch Will!
I appreciate your taking time to look into it and adding the .24-isms.
Will push it out to my friend's laptop the next time she's online.

Addendum. The reason I might not have noticed 'till hardy and blamed iwl3945
is that I may have initially suffered from other iwl3945 bugs - I believe my
initial dmesg output was quite different.
In working things over I ripped out my usage of hand-coded wpa-supplicant and
switched it over to /
I would like to agree to the importance of this. Bug #217809 was due to this,
and the symptoms were not obvious for WPA (for one thing, the key didn't always
get written to /etc/network/interfaces)
The use of a sentence for PSK is not uncommon since it simplifies relaying -

I'm assuming my problems are related. Going to try the kernel downgrade if I
still have the sources...
Based on forum suggestion I attempted commenting out the udev rename of wlan0
to eth1 - didn't help.
Nor did noapic as was another suggestion.

Also no RTL-8185 in Hardy Beta.
Tad concerned on this eve of the kernel freeze.

Trying to build these sources. Unfortunately they need some porting to work
with 2.6.24 as noted above.
