FYI, since yesterday, no more crashing. This is the longest I've ever gone. I'm not totally sure that compiz is in the clear since the session I disabled compiz crashed very shortly after, but if compiz is cleared, the only thing I've disabled since is vga=0x0311.
Now, I *was* using Ibex with that flag for several weeks before the crashes started.
