I have Kubuntu Jaunty and have reproduced this several times. Every time I try
to open a torrent, ktorrent freezes everything. For example using 'open' in
the menu, or, using firefox going to a torrent such as

I uninstalled ktorrent and then re-installed it this morning. Ktorrent version

I cannot edit the menu in xfce4-menueditor in xubuntu. If I try to edit
an existing entry, the menu editor just disappears. If I try to add a
new entry and then save it, my entire menu is blanked and I cannot get
the menu on screen until I copy the menu.xml from /etc/xdg/xfc
Just verified it here. nano called from sudoedit is definitely not safe
on Dapper.

The latest version of Smarty is packaged for Edgy. I installed this
package to Dapper without any problems. I would strongly recommend that
this package be introduced to dapper-backports or into the main dapper
universe repository since there are several critical fixes that were
made between 2.6.11

Hello,
I use edgy, compiz (xgl) on a x86_64.
When I want to use a new tab (and not a new window), the tab is
unusable... white box only, five minutes later the prompt, and if I
write anything, I have to wait some minutes. for see my text.

When an update is performed, and packages in install, the console is not
updated, and we have to close/open the console the see the news. (This
is not a problem with the scroll bar, we can down any more...).

Yes, I have too the problem without compiz/Xgl but not in synaptic.
And before (on dapper) there was any problems...

Is there any chance of a later version being backported into dapper? If
you can tell me that it won't be in the next 6 months or so, then I'll
go compile it from source for my own use, but I'd really rather prefer
there to be an official package.

This does not look like the problem I addressed with my patch, as it is
unllkely your CD drive is not MMC-2, and the problem would have showed
up in Feisty. Not sure the wiki is quite appropriate, but certainly
check HAL output: as well as using HALD in debug mode you can use the
HAL device manage
Alberto: just seen that someone has filed a bug report that sounds like
it might be your issue: Bug #158033.
