connect speakers to the motherboard output (I lose the 5.1 component),
pulseaudio never dies.
I have switched and replaced the sound card to no effect but I never
really thought that was the issue.

sound devices disappear from output options. If I'm listening through
Spotify, Spotify won't play until that has been restarted (from memory
so do RhythmBox and Banshee)

to 18.1, install fresh from 18.1.
My graphics card is a nvidia 9500 gs,
-recommended driver (340) does not work Xorg crash,
-with nouveau driver no xorg...

For a web interface, there really shouldn't be a weak, plaintext default
PASSWORD = linvdr in /var/lib/vdradmin-am/vdradmind.conf in 2017 (or

Then I reinstalled that laptop with the netinstall iso and only

I have same problem with Acer Switch 12. Buttons have never worked on
any kernel up to 4.4.0-66. They have the same index numbers.

Kai-Heng Feng, I also noticed that by default the scaling driver used is
acpi-cpufreq and not p-state. I've read that p-state is favorable for
kernels >= 4.4. Is this something that is up to the user to decide or
should this be considered an incorrect default?
