Hello, this problem still exists for me since Linux mint 17.3 (end of 2016), upgrade to 18.1, install fresh from 18.1. My graphics card is a nvidia 9500 gs, -recommended driver (340) does not work Xorg crash, -with nouveau driver no xorg...
xorg start with nvidia legacy drivers with nvidia splash, mouse on cinnamon desktop works except panel / task bar Does not respond to the mouse, left or right click, except the mintupdate applet (right and left click works !!!). With the Super key the menu is displayed and I can navigate in and I can navigate in with the arrow keys but left or right click on it immediately closes...
