The trackpoint and the related two buttons were not working after boot. My
laptop is ThinkPad T430u running kernel 3.8.0-19-generic on Ubuntu 13.04 -

So I purged gnome3 ppa. That solved the scrollbar problem.
Unity Tweak Tool (miracoulously & unecpectantly) solved the (despite the purge)
remaining two: wallpapers and suspend!

I use ssmtp with alot.
Alot normalizes mail endings according to rfc 3156.
One of these normalizations consists of converting all '\n' to '\r\n'
When such a message is passed to ssmtp, ssmtp magically doubles the line
endings.
'\r\n' becomes '\r\n\r\n' whereas '\n' stays '\n
