Since the upgrade to 12.10 I have a lot of problem on my desktop.

I've made a backup of my data and formatted and reinstalled 12.10. After
a fresh reinstall the problem seems to be solved. But after going into
the software updater and updating all software the issue is back again.
I've narrowed it down to being one of the Compiz updates that's causing
the issue.

Ok, so I uninstalled nvidia-current and virtual box and installed the
mainline.

I then uninstalled the mainline and reinstalled the ubuntu default
kernel (without nvidia-current):

Maybe (I don't know) it is then necessary to remove the brcmsmac driver
from the blacklisted modules.

When I wanted to upgrade my nc6000 to quantal, I found that this isn't
possible, because there is no longer a non-pae kernel available. (The
CPU on this laptop seems to be missing some required extension.)
Linux has always been well known for (also) supporting older hardware.
This bug is missing log files that will aid in diagnosing the problem.

The issue was the way icons folded. If the progress bar can be at the
bottom when unfolded, and then move to the center as icons fold in the
launcher, then +1

It is the same with the xchat-indicator package installed or removed,
with or without the xchat in the tray whitelist.
When I launch xchat on the command line, it also say :
libunity-CRITICAL **: unity-launcher.vala:154: Unable to connect to session
bus: Could not connect: Connection refused
and
I can confirm that removing the -xshm option from /usr/bin/scratch
resolves the problem. The switch -xshm seems to work fine in 3D mode
(unity) on a secondary screen though. See attachment in bug #1072309

I cannot get dual boot running with ubuntu 12.10 and windows 7. I spent
