Since this is a critical bug, I wanted to give a quick update. I've
wrote a patch which fixes this issue but it is triggering a new lockdep
warning. I think it is a false positive, but I've got more investigation

The launcher only autohides when a window is maximized or pushed past
its edge. However, "pushed past its edge" is much *much* too easy to
trigger. Windows should snap to the edge of the launcher the same way
they snap to the edge of the screen, so pushing them up against the
launcher doesn't hide
I am still having the issue with shutdown/reboot/logout. I upgraded from
11.04 to 11.10 and the menu buttons still do not work. I am able to use
init/shutdown -r or -h now from the console. I am using a Dell 1545 N
and I loaded the KDE desktop on top of Lubuntu and changed from LXDE to

Just added all the groups that dik (root) has to dik2 privileges and
dik2 can still log in OK. Privs are:

No, the ALPS driver always registers two devices, even when the

two ways to do it.. the long way (not really) check the post at the
beginning area of the thread. The short version.. Shift+Numlock. That

Also tried using Apple Laserwriter NT PS driver, which had the same many
blank pages result.
Tried both PS and Brscript driver for same printer under Ubuntu 10.10
using lpd, and got same results.
Would blame the brother printer, but it works fine from the family's Mac
OS X box using cups and lpd.
I just got bitten once again by this bug on my Lenovo IdeaPad S10e with
a freshly installed Oneiric. The old broadfix woraround is still
working, from what I can tell so far. So please re-open this bug.
