I've never seen this myself, but there can be two reasons:
1) zeitgeist-daemon is not running - in this case you should be able
to see some messages about this on stdout if you run the apps place
daemon manually
2) It's a bug in Unity's rendering layer - in this case you need

compat-wireless >=2011-01-24 works for me as well using maverick on a Zotac MAG.
Before installing this it was close to impossible to get a connection at all
and if a connection was made it was close to impossible to use or dropped
completely.
After installing I have had no issues what so ever..

I've tried updating the Crucial M225 SSD drive to the latest firmware
(2030) -- no difference.
Also experimented with turning AHCI on and off in the BIOS. This too
made no difference.
I can reliably reproduce the problem by trying to write a disk image
onto the drive using 'dd'.
