creating a new thread. The problem behind the message, "Out of disk" is that
grub is trying to access something that it cant reach. In my case it was trying
to write to a usb device.

The workaround I found good at the time (see above) does not work with
lucid anymore.
After skimming through the xrandr-links in this bugreport I tried some
other workarounds.
This is what helps me under Kubuntu 10.04:
xrandr --output DP2 --mode 1920x1200
added as a desktop entry under systemse
Newer drivers fixed the brightness problem for me too. I just added the

when running KARMIC, temp was around 50 degree centigrade but upgrade to LUCID
made it average around 60
running maverick alpha1 with full upgrades today and temp is around 60 still
