Yes, I do. The screen goes blank with a flashing cursor; sometime after

I see the same problem on my new PC. However, the PC suspends fine for the 1st
time after boot, but resumes immediately after each consequent suspend.
Maybe the *hci modules are now built into the kernel? J

umm...i think that in my previous comment about an hour ago i made it
clear that i created a new profile. in fact, just to be sure, i removed
the entire .mozilla folder and had it create a new one.
secondly, i have been in touch with safari techs who report that the
flash player has problems
also, i have reproduced this problem on three new installs of karmic on
2 64 bit amd machines and a 32 bit pentium. all behave the same way and
all now work because i removed the ubuntu ff mods and then created a new
profile. just creating a new profile with ubuntu ff mods enabled results
in the si
as an aside what benefit is there really to ff mods? installing out of
date packages that are more easily installed with the ff extensions? is
this really necessary?

I think I've found a solution for me.
Steps:
1. Completely remove grub, grub2, grub-pc and grub-common packages.
2. Delete all files in the /boot/grub directory
3. Delete packages cache, so they'll be downloaded once more (don't know
whether it is necessray)
4. Install grub-pc and grub-common pac

How can the uuid of e.g. /dev/sda1 determined now?
In former versions it was by
/sbin/vol_id -u /dev/sda1
