I have since discovered that the 9.10 which had the problem was close to
Beta. After I found the problem I got around 300 updates some I see are to the
keyring software which may be why it behaved this way.
So the reason for the keyring problem is due to a Beta version 9.10

Same problem on the new dell of my brother in law. Seems that Karmic is
not usable on this laptop and because of the lack of reaction from the
