X server resident memory usage went back up to 500MB and stayed that way even
after I killed all GUI programs except the terminal and panel applets. Logged
out and back in to restart X server. Usage went down to 200MB virtual and 69MB
resident. Reloading firefox, and all my tabs, did not

tried didn't help. I had been using an external DVD, plugged into a USB2
card.
After I installed an internal DVD, the problem disappeared completely,
and now works for me.

Hi Daniel,
So far, I have replaced to ubuntu 9.04 x86_32 with virtualbox (2.2.2) 32bit
from 7.10.
Also, I have replaced to Gnome from KDE as the default Window Management of
OS already too.
So,The same issue does not occur now.

On my upgraded amd64 I have libpam-smbpass installed and it is the

okay finally got around to compiling alsa, I followed this page
