This is happening on non-obscure hardware as well now. Just installed
the beta on a Dell 1420n and experience the same effects. 'killall
nautilus' takes care of it, but there has to be a better way.

FIXED - I uninstalled macromedia plug in and re installed it,
Ps, installer/uninstaller showed swf 0.8.2 as NOT installed though right
clicking in apps showed it in the 'about' section

If you use update-manager to update you can choose if you want to upgrade it or

So after some testing i can say SWcursor wont work at all .
(ugly blitting error so cursor is messed up when useing SWcursor)
So my steps to fix the bug are:
Step1 : Add: Option "HWCursor" "True"
I got to the point where the System Testing windows read: "Successfully
sent information!" before I saw/noticed the crash. Pushing Next does
not produce any response...
