Pedro, I made a test with Intrepid and the issue is still present. In fact,
after having configure my pop account, the number of new notified messages,
displayed in the notification area, were 45 while evolution downloaded 51 new
messages (and this last number was ok).

I'm running evolution now to see if it happens, but the setup has
changed. B4 I was dealing with imap servers that weren't setup so well,

I do believe I'm getting something similar to this.
I don't have anything in logs that would suggest a fail, but after a
period of around 4-6 hours network inactivity, my system will freeze
once I start using the network device again (ie: checking for updates).

ctrl-alt-f<#> to switch to a tty, the screen goes black, one or two

I can confirm the bug and the solution. I agree that the default needs
to be changed. The behavior changes without letting the user know, and
there is no visible solution (except that bugreport, but i don't expect
every user to come here to find out how to get the old default behavior
back).

I can not reproduce it any more. Looks like it was fixed after some
updates. Anyway it was happening only if video is played with gxine. So
probably it was a gxine issue. But it is not happening any more so I

Looking at the code, looks like the ngettext function for handling
plural forms is not working as expected. Probably it is related to the
fact that the translations are not handled directly inside the ngettext
function, but postponed with the macro N_() and referenced inside the
ngettext function.

Actually the problem disappeared the next day when I boot up my computer.
So it's maybe due to the fact that SFCB was not running, I don't remember if I
shut it down before uninstalling the sblim-cmpi-base package.

than other devices supported by evtouch to be packaged together, but I
understand the concern of having so many random drivers. The only latest
distro I can find that has the driver in its repository is openSUSE

Just tried booting with the jaunty alpha6 live cd. It could not start X.
Attached xorg.log from the live cd.
(Choosing failsafe did start X in vesa mode)

Ondrej, thank you very much for your comment about kaffeine, xcb and
opengl.
I disabled xcb in kaffeine source package and opengl works now.
I guess other failing video out drivers will work now, too.
Another side-effect, now kaffeine starts in fullscreen mode again.
