Public bug reported:
When AIM's buddy list in unavailable (or so Pidgin thinks) it will pop-up a new
window everytime it tries to get the buddy list. The problem is it doesn't
check to see if it has already created this window so something like the linked
image occurs:

I think this will go on forever but I ran out of available (physical)
memory so I had to close pidgin.
