Is it a laptop?  I've seen where power management stuff can kick in
after a time, especially for this class of bug where the crash occurs
regularly after it's been idle for a time.

There's some techniques you can find in the ubuntu wiki and elsewhere
for switching on different power modes to see if one triggers the crash.

Thanks; testing of Jaunty will give a better chance of getting a fix.
