I am seeing file corruption when copying from a Windows NT4 server to an
up-to-date version of Jaunty with a 2.6.29-rc2 kernel (but also using
the stock Jaunty kernel) using gvfs. The files in question have NOTHING
to do with OOo, they are JPEG's from a digital camera. Files are
reliably corrupted

I am almost positive it is not a router issue but an ISP issue. My
reasoning is this. When I use my ISP's dns wget will not work. However

I have a DELL INSPIRON 1501 with Ubuntu 8.10 64-bit.
The error occured on nearly every cold boot and only very seldom after
rebooting the computer.
!!!I'm not running fglrx!!!
On Ubuntu 8.04 32-bit the error occurs even after some random time
running the machine.

My system (also a 945G) works after choosing the 'attempt to fix
graphic' in recovery mode. It flashes by very quickly but it seems to
use a backup of xorg.config in /etc/X11.

a way to set up Firestarter in such a way that DHCP ports are open for
services other than dhcpd.
