Fixed my problem about the noise.
Hardware problem from a creative lab sound card model ct 4870
Replaced the card with a creative lab model ct 4750 and everything is working
fine
This could a problem with the model ct 4870, it works fine on windows
xp, butt it does not on ubuntu.
Thank you. npviewer should load the libs in /usr/lib32/ and /lib32 but
it finds the version in /lib and /usr/lib ( 64bit version) and can't
load it. ia32-libs normally handle this but I've no amd64 to test with.
For now, a workaround might be to use LD_LIBRARY_PATH in the wrapper

I'm using the same card (nVidia MCP61) and driver (snd-hda-intel), and
I'm guessing the Intel 82801EB/ER also uses snd-hda-intel. The two

gnome-power-manager 2.24.0-0ubuntu8.1 has fixed the problem. My graphics

I also have poor graphics performance ( only around 600 FPS with
glxgears ) ...
I've tried the version 2.6.28-rc7 of the Linux Kernel ( using
KernelCheck ), then I've updated the xorg server and the drivers from
the xorg-edgers repository, I've rebooted the PC and ... the touchpad
and the keyboard
I have also been experiencing this problem since moving to Intrepid, but
not at first. I noticed it first one or two weeks ago, but it is now a
daily occurrence. Alt-Tab does not fix it. Only Ctrl-Alt-Backspace
restores the mouse click.
