wasn't upping at boot and it made some GTK apps slow.

ppa fixes the issue for you. I think it should have fixed the problem.

I had a problem a lot like this myself, I discovered that if I ran a
sudo /etc/init.d/bluetooth stop
before suspend/hibernate and a
sudo /etc/init.d/bluetooth start
after the suspend/hibernate, my bluetooth will work correctly.
So.. I added the lines

Actually yes. Before I used the alternate cd, the live would freeze the
exact same way the boot bar does. So I used the alternate and it worked

me what parameters the Active Task folder screens for.

I was using gparted and did not realise that it does not do ntfs
partitions so I tried fat32 instead in which folders were deleted
properly. Switching back to my ntfs drive (from before, i was testing
filesystem types on a separate drive) I still have this problem.

I find having a few tiny linux distro's around is great for fixing
things like this. DistroWatch is good for scouting around and having a
quick look at a few. There's even a distro called 'SystemRescueCd'.

Good (or bad?) news: It works. Pinentry starts and does its job.
I can also use gpg with kontact/kmail and I'm prompted for the pass if
needed.
Any other ideas?
