Hi think the dkms package won't work with recent versions of the kernel
(Intrepid). The development seems to have moved to a user space driver,
so it would be nice if we could package it...
I don't know how to do it, I think one have to play with udev and such

I revisited this issue tonight and after an unnecessary excursion into
the land of bleeding xorg, discovered that other user accounts on the
same machine don't have the problem. deleted all kwin related conf files
in ~/.kde/share/config/ fixes and now no crash.

Don't know if the upgrade had something to do with it but the problem
was the Multisession mode setting got changed to "No multisession". My
bad for not checking sooner. Just didn't think of it because I always
leave it on the default "Auto" setting.

Binary package hint: compizconfig-settings-manager
I'm using the gconf backend. When I reset my current profile to default,
also other settings totally unrelated to compiz are reseted, for example
the value in /desktop/gnome/applications/terminal
Steps to reproduce:

Recently upgraded to KDE 4.2 on Kubuntu 8.10 and haven't been able to
launch system-config-printer-kde since. Package version is
4:4.1.80-0ubuntu1~intrepid1~ppa1. The window briefly appears, but then
crashes.
