After another system update that did *not* include the libtiff4 update,
I find that I am again stuck with the same problem. Apparently this
issue is not caused by one particular package, so it could very well not
be a libtiff4 issue. I am investigating.

Using Ubuntu 8.04, still have the problem: French keyboard layout works
for most applications (applications with a GUI) but doesnt inside Gnome-
terminal (ctrl+q insteead of ctrl+a).

Ok so now it is all up to the kernel. The relevant patches _should_ have
been included in .26, but according to reports above, it wasn't solved
in Intrepid Alpha 3.
I'll try the Alpha 5 LiveCD as soon as I can download it with my slow
connection...

gdmsetup crashes on start with SIGSEGV in GTK/strcmp()
not writting the path there is a decision, you don't need it, it'll do
typing completion in the local directory and this way you can also type
a totally different directory directly

to create a private dir.
i mounted it, then put something in it.
then unmounted Private dir.
now Private dir contains only "THIS DIRECTORY HAS BEEN UNMOUNTED TO PROTECT
YOUR DATA -- Run mount.ecryptfs_p

I have checked with my wife, who indicates that sound has been working
for some time now under Hardy, and on the aforementioned laptop. I'm not
quite sure when it came good, but it looks to be a while ago. Sorry
about keeping this bug open for so long in the mean-time.

Breaking news update: It seems that there may be an acceptable quick
fix that obviates the problem of Bug 87077 (that will be replaced later
when the proper solution is in place). The merge has been proposed for
SCons 1.0.1 which is due out in a few days.
