I am having this problem with Intrepid. If I press ALT+CTRL+Backspace
the resolution is corrected.
I'm curious as to why this was marked as invalid. Other operating
systems (like Windows) don't suffer from this problem, so Ubuntu
shouldn't either.

I'm having exactly this same problem when installing ubuntu 8.04 LTS
server (alternate CD) in both normal, and expert modes.
It boots perfectly fine from the CD-ROM but when it gets to the stage of

thank you for your bug report, the ubuntu package you opened a bug
against only provide menu items in the applications to make easy to
report a bug or translate something, you want to open a bug against
launchpad and not ubuntu

i tried ubuntu 8.04.1, and here are the screenshots
firefox, open office seems to work fine (pic1), in terminal i have
"boldy" fonts - if i compare it with default Sans 10 (pic2)

Joe: this shouldn't be necessary. A simple "sudo modprobe nvidia" is
enough and you have to do it only once then it should be loaded
automatically at boot.

Spoke too soon - it is still happening. Just took longer to trigger.
I noticed that if I restart network manager after the hang
(/etc/dbus-1/event.d/25NetworkManager restart), the wireless networks
will still be seen but cannot be connected too (in the panel icon both
circles stay blue while the s
I am using intrepid right now on this very same laptop. If I use the
latest linux-image (2.6.25) I have no X, and I cannot see my wifi
network (but I can see some others). For the time being, using intrepid
kernel may not be an answer :-(
