I worked around the cursor jumping issue by disabling hardware cursor in
the xorg.conf:

are right and you do not have to try them.

acpi-off, but if you want to use it as parameter you have to use
acpi=off.

Thanks for the feedback. One more thing, can you add to your boot line
the following:
ignore_loglevel
and redo the test and attach the screenshot - and if there is any easy
way of getting more lines on the console by changing font size or screen
resolution it will be helpful - I may get
I had the same problem and I have solved it completely removing the line
options snd-hda-intel model=
from /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base
Now everything works: internal and external mic and speakers.
I have 2.6.24-19-generic kernel and alsa-base 1.0.16-0ubuntu4 on x86-64.
