Hi,
I usuall install Kubuntu over LVM (possibly encrypted) using the live
CD, because I find creating the LVM manually (would be nice if the live
CD could include the lvm2 and cryptsetup packages, they're rather small
and it would save me to "aptitude install" them each time
When visiting sites Firefox 3.0 totally freezes my Ubuntu 8.04 system. I
have disabled some of my addons that I have installed recently, but that
seems to not have worked. I need help as this is driving my crazy!

compiz loading with gnome. I have been hitting ALT+F2 then typing in
"metacity --replace", then hitting enter (all without seeing what's
happening). That just runs that command in a terminal which switches

I got this same bug recently. It appeared when I changed my Gnome top
and bottom panels to autohide. Changing them back to normal didn't
remove the bug. The problem only occurs with Writer, not Calc.
I got it fixed when I removed
~/.openoffice.org2/user/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/Writer.x
Compiz appears to work for the most part, it's just that scrolling is
exceptionally choppy. From reading around, it was suggested that DRI
was most probably the cause. Since glxinfo segfaults, and things fall
apart from then on, something is definitely awry.
