I have IBM R40 with Ubuntu 8.04 2.6.24-16-generic and my daughter is
very unhappy when this happens with Firefox which seems to launch
process. Our WLAN changed from D-Link to Buffalo and reluctant to change
back, I logically removed apache and mysql server (obviously she doesn't
need them)
Here is a screenshot of 'volume control'. It is impossible for me to
raise the left channel as it refuses to move. Also if i click the link
button it sometimes makes it so i can raise the left channel a bit.

I would say so. I had once installed the official Nvidia driver with
their installer, and some left over files caused the problem (although
the last Update to 7.10 went fine anyway). I don't see a way for Ubuntu
to solve that.

Just tried the -rt kernel image, without success. Computer froze in the
middle of the night with a lot of torrents active. Can't find anything
in the logs.
The onboad NIC is a 10/100 Fast Ethernet via RealTek RTL8201BL, the PCI
card is an old 10/100 card, probably a 3com.

channel but not on the 1st channel. Strange cauz my plextor cdrw drive.
Althought Win works on both channels, i guess my MB ide controllers seem to
have a transfer data rate problem.

same lockups. the screen completely freezes no signal from mouse,
keyboard lights ect. Also sound plays a short loop over and over for a

When music is playing and I switch to the console (ctrl + alt + F1) the
music freezes until I return to gnome. This doesn't happen if I use alsa
output. Moreover, in the console mplayer refuses to play audio unless I

The i810 driver is deprecated since a long time and would be most likely
removed in newer Ubuntu versions so your problem should be fixed in the
-intel driver. To check if it is already fixed in a newer version I
posted the above howto.
