Sorry that I took this much time to answer. Ive been away, busy and/or
lazy (Ive no really good excuse). I installed (just now) the "linux-
backports" package, and after a reboot the led is working beautifully.
Previously I was running driver version 1.2.0. The package upgraded it
to 1.2.25. ("modinfo iwl3945").
I attached the lspci output, just in case it will do some good.
