Yeh I fixed the problem yesterday. Turns out that installing Virtualbox
modules for 386 (instead of generic) had installed the 386 kernel and
made it the default in Grub. When I removed the 386 kernel and installed
the correct (generic) virtualbox module then my PC booted into the
generic kernel wh

modprobe option to work. I already tried setting "option hid
pb_fnmode=2" in both /etc/modprobe.conf as well as

group and restarted the system. After that I'm able to use the 'Unlock'

I have the same problem on a Gutsy to Hardy upgrade, and I'm unable to
use Italian system-wide. Indeed, a fresh Hardy install shows no problems
and language Italian is correctly shown.

I have just upgraded from gutsy to hardy, and the Places menu of the
panel, and nautilus's bookmark menu is showing 'x-nautilus-desktop' as a
menu item. When I selet it I just get a dialogue saying:
Could not open location 'x-nautilus-desktop

have the same problem, no sound when trying to play a correctly
identified audio CD.

The python.el.gz was correctly installed.
I found my problem, my .emacs contained :
(autoload 'python-mode "python-mode" "Python editing mode." t)
It seems that once you tried to activate python mode at startup, it will never
starts correctly.

Hi,
I couldn't find the messages in /var/log/messages or /var/log/syslog (or
any of the gzip files). I've installed the hardy-beta updates from today
(24 March) which included network-manager files. Now everything shuts
down cleanly and I only see the ubuntu graphic and progress bar. It

After a while of using Hardy, I've found that unlike Gutsy, heavy disk
usage by any one process (caused by things like launching Firefox or
Openoffice, or installing packages), causes other processes to be
starved of CPU time.
On a machine running Hardy, try:
