Many new machines come with a Vista partition and a recovery partition.
When menu.lst is generated both are named the same way, which makes
things quite confusing for the users. Confirmed on a Samsung Q45 with a
factory installation of Vista Home Pre

This is using ubiquity 1.7.2 (!), which is an ancient version of

Ok, this is a tricky request, since the only time this happens is right
after a clean install of the current Hardy 64 bits ISO. And it is a one
time only occurrence.
Since it doesn't always crash the application, like this last time in my

I'm glad finally a coder looks into this, and patched code surfaces.
Although the recent posted patch will work for most users, imho it's not a
proper patch.

Uninstalling the package with --purge fixed this for me, but another
solution that worked was to delete the offending symlink
/etc/udev/rules.d/025_libsane-extras.rules.
I just reinstalled the package and it didn't recreate the symlink. So

The monitor resolution dialog panel can be too big to easily fit on a
640x480 screen, especially if the DPI is wrong and the dialog fonts are

Looking at that strace and a bit of poking around on this box...
gnome-display-properties opens a socket and assigns it fd 3 for x.
It writes some data and RANDR to that socket. After another read on
that same socket, it drops core.

I tried setupcon blindly in a tty, and that did restore the tty
indeed. But I need to do that every time I switch to the tty, even if
I switch from one tty to the other then back I'll need to run
'setupcon'.

I would second the request to have the new stable release of Wesnoth in
Hardy. This would prevent possible incompatibilities with other systems
where wesnoth 1.4 is installed (e.g., network games).

Regarding coherence, although we could live with it being in universe I
think that it should be considered for inclusion in main. Rhythmbox has
a powerful upnp plugin that depends on coherence too. The library is
well written and relatively sm
But that means that people, not knowing very experienced with Ubuntu,
will get a half translated system. And they've got no idea how to fix
that nor speak English. It's very tricky if you don't understand what
all the buttons mean.
