It looks like patch doesn't force greedy heurestics in 2.2.1 (no info in
Xorg.0.log). I've glanced at code and probably neither
EXA_MIGRATION_GREEDY nor I830_USE_EXA is defined. Or maybe, I've just
screwed up compilation for amd64 ;-)

We did this on purpose.
All these desktop files are duplicates of the "Settings Manager" items, so we
are removing these to clean the menu. Only a few xfce apps
(xfce4-{mixer,session,panel}) still install these desktop files.

i can confirm that ctrl-alt-del works to reboot when usplash hangs, and that
vga= combinations don't solve the issue.
imho we should look for a way to kill usplash when kernel notices that it's
going to resume from hibernation rather then starting the standard boot
sequence. at least until ther

Good that you mentioned this, I gave it a closer look now and found out that
the bug is also suddenly gone on my Gutsy installation. Could it be possible
that this issue depends on the exact model of the graphics board one is using?
I recently replaced my Geforce 7600GS with a Geforce 86
I've just checked. This bug has been fixed upstream. I've merged the
patch into Ubuntu's package.

I have made other tests on several wifi-networks, reporting all the same
result. If the network is WPA-PSK I cannot connect to the AP if the
laptop is too close to it. Bringing the laptop far away from the AP (so
lowering the signal strenght) I can get connected. From that point on, I

It works for me on Xubuntu Hardy Alpha 5. Only the Battery Monitor
doesn't show up but that'll be because I'm not on a laptop (it also
doesn't work in other themes).
