Adding the pdfborderstyle={/S/U/W 0} to the hyperref package when
producing a pdf suppresses all visual clues as to the existence of
hyperlinks in the document. A strange idea to me : you create a pdf with
hyperlinks yet there is nothing that tells the user that some part of
the text is a link unti
This issue is still present which causes a constant upgrade notification
on kubuntu.
The problem seems to be that libxine1 has "required: libxine1-plugins or
libxine1-misc-plugins" which was or should be a recommend since they
pull in the gnome packages which aren't a default on a kubuntu system.
I've created a patch that corrects this issue and some others :

Looks like it maybe related to Bug #148003.
IMHO, it's a race between udev and cryptsetup (libdevmapper).
I "fixed" it by removing /etc/udev/rules.d/65-dmsetup.rules.
This file seems to have been introduced by a recent Ubuntu patch.
Presumably there was a good reason for it, but it causes havoc

I would like to insist on the fact that those red borders appear on
documents that have been created with that purpose (for instance when
the user creates the pdf using latex and the hyperref package). The
creator of the pdf wanted red borders around links to identify them as
such and so kpdf displ

speaker. When I unplug the headphone, I lose all sound. I've tried

My experience with this issue is a little different.
The system is a file server running 6.06 LTS
There are five HD's
Boot and OS disk is attached to the MB Pri Master.
This disk has always been HDA
Partitions are:
hda1 = boot
hda5 = root
hda6 = home
There are four MDRaid disks on a SIL controll
All ubuntu changes have been merged in 1.23.39 version, so the package

Hi,
Yeah, turns out this was actually because of Network Manager taking down
and bringing up again eth0. That "bug" is still present.
My feisty (NFS root) install has both these files contents as "exit" to stop
network mangager mangling the network connection:

Ubuntu's aptitude doesn't automatically remove installed kernels. "Unused"
kernel _headers_ are removed though, and you only need these if you plan to
compile something against the kernel.
/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/05aptitude contains:
