I have a similar problem with a Dell 2407 (1920x1200) primary monitor
and Dell 1905 (1280x1024) secondary monitor. I can get the primary
monitor to display at 1920x1200, but the Gnome panel at top of screen
and the bottom panel are sized and positioned as if the screen is
1280x1024 - ie the top pan
I just experience (an hour ago) the same problem during the installation
of xubuntu-7.10-alternate-i386.iso (release date: 09-Oct-2007 21:36), on
my ibm r50e laptop with Intel 855GM video chipset. The trick is to wait
for the hard drive & cd-rom drive activity to stop and just press
enter.

i have been testing 7.10 beta for a few days. initially lucent wavelan
pcmcia wifi card caused a kernel crash when i installed it into pcmcia
slot. now (on oct 12), the crash is gone, but i'm not able to connect
to network with the card. this card has been working for me fo

I'm afraid to make things even more complicated in this situation... But
here are my results: 2.6.22-10 = no problem, 2.6.22-12 = had 1 random
hangup on resume, 2.6.22-14 = no problem. Testing method: tried 5

@Martin: I'm afraid the files had too low sound (amplitude didn't reach
the maximum) and hence are improper test cases.
To create a proper test case, people with a sound file exposing the problem
should convert it to wav with this command:
gst-launch -v filesrc location=Music/foo.ogg ! decodebin
The problem is solved and the root cause was bug #146513. No need to
keep this report open anymore.

I think this is not a bug but intended behaviour. Apparmor is all about
restricting access to locations on disc after all;-)
I'd recommend tuning /etc/apparmor.d/tunables/home to include your

After upgrading and on a fresh install of the Gutsy RC Kubuntu release the
multimedia key for sound don't work. When I push volume up the OSD display 11%

The distribution upgrade works fine on the new RC release of 7.10 that
