I can confirm that. I use gutsy with latest updates too. I tried
scanning files on a usb drive first: Hangs at 35%. I then copied all
files to a local drive an the scan now hangs at 68%. amarokcollection
takes about 50% load on one core. After killing the process, collection

Yes Travis, I had doubts too about compiz.
In the meantime I found there is a problem in the way drm and radeon
modules are loaded I think.
Using Gutsy live cd I found this workaround.
1) Go to ALT+F1 console.
2) stop gdm $ sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop
3) unload radeon and drm modules $ sudo rmm

we did exactly that for the last releases, the problem with using teh
maintainer scripts of xserver-xorg like the liveCD does is that it needs
to load the whole debconf database which is an extremely slow process
over the network, the script we use in gutsy currently relies on the
values Xorg itsek
I've got the exact same problem. (Composite extension not enabled, click "ok",
window reappears)
Only difference is that I did an upgrade from 7.04 to 7.10.
I also installed the restricted ATI driver.

and UDEV was fine, but it didn't detect that the filesystem was FAT32 so

there is no way to install the firmware into my d-link router.
so, the only solution is to change the resolv.conf values with:
nameserver 208.67.222.222
nameserver 208.67.220.220
but the "problem" is that internet connection works but this values have to be
save every 20 minutes..I don't know wh
As far as I can remember, Restricted Manager did not work after I logged
in successfully, can't reproduce it though, as I upgraded to gutsy beta,
which works fine so far.

I can also confirm this with eclipse 3.3.1. For me, it happens, when I try to
expand a projects in eclipse's project tree.
I run the current gutsy repository versions of sun's java on an amd64.

When you log out of gnome, GDM (I presume) restarts the X server, even
if AlwaysRestartServer=false is set in /etc/gdm/gdm.conf. This is a
problem because gnome has a bug
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-panel/+bug/120819) that
requires logging out and in again
This is Gutsy beta, btw. This didn't happen in feisty.
