The "problem" is that gparted can only do operations on unmounted partitions and if gparted finished an operation on it... gnome will mount the "new inserted partition" immediately . ;-) So... gparted should disable auto-mount temporarily. I found a Gnome-Bug for that... http://bugzilla.gnome.org
