I believe this is due to a bug in a the NVIDIA binary driver (you can
see it falling back to "nvidia-auto-select" in the logs) failing to
properly read the DDC information from your monitor. It is probably

are using the bcm43xx driver. If I am correct where exactly did you put

Yes, still having exactly the same problem with nautilus in Feisty,
probably related to more general problems with fstab and mount
commands. If I unmount the drive on the commandline, it doesn't
actually unmount.

I am almost positive this is a hardware specific driver problem.
I installed stock ubuntu 7.04 on a Dell Latitude D600 with a "ATI
Technologies Inc Radeon R250 [Mobility FireGL 9000]" graphics card and a
1400x1050 screen. The configured driver was "ati", I am currently using
"radeon"

scratch. After first adept update, when I rebooted, I kept getting
segmentation error; kernel panic, etc. But I took a backup before update
and if I copied old initrd.img-2.6.22-9-generic from original Tribe 4
Problem occurs in Gutsy Desktop Tribe 4, Alternate CD and Live CD, with
the same error.
