I believe this is due to a bug in a the NVIDIA binary driver (you can see it falling back to "nvidia-auto-select" in the logs) failing to properly read the DDC information from your monitor. It is probably possible to work around this using a parameter listed in http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/1.0-9755/README/appendix-d.html (although if you attempt this back your xorg.conf and be prepared for X not to start).
