Hello. Good news. Before 2.6.8-5ubuntu3 (shipped in feisty) I
experienced the exact same issue - I was seeing only half the video.
Now, in feisty, I see the sheep playing full-screen. But the same

Hey,
Is there any hint of what might be causing this problem? I've stripped
my system bare, removing all plugins/addons/extensions from Firefox,
uninstalling the msttcorefonts, and I've even switched to the nv driver
rather than nVidia's proprietary one. But the problem still happens:

Still exists in a fresh install of feisty. If anything changed it's for
the worse: typically, speed indication is now about 4x too high and
still varies significantly even when the actual download speed is
stable.

I just got my laptop back from repair after the disk crashed. It came
back with a replacement 120GB hdd, with WinXP installed on a single
120GB FAT partition.
I booted the feisty live CD, which took me to an error message

Here's how the gparted screen looked after the 'failure'. It tells me
/dev/sda1 doesn't exist, but the above 'dosfsck' output shows that it
does.
