I'm using "Fritz! X USB" ISDN hardware from AVM for my internet
connection. I configured ppp to use dial-on-demand, which worked
flawlessly in Ubuntu Dapper and Ubuntu Edgy. However, it doesn't work in
Ubuntu Feisty, even though I'm using exactly the

Thanks, Justin. It looks to me like this may have been a corrupted
setting in ~/.kde
Please try backing up ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/ and
~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc and then deleting those files. Does that
cause this bug to disappear?

Thanks for the additional information. Could you please make kde hang,
then switch to a virtual console using Ctrl+Alt+F2 and grab
'~/.xsession-errors', '/var/log/Xorg.0.log', 'dmesg' and
'/var/log/kdm.log'? Thanks in advance.

Looking at the latest feisty package, both faac and faad are missing.
They seem to actively maintained upstream, as per
http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/releases/gst-plugins-bad/0.10.4.html so
I wonder why they aren't here.
Because of this, there's no AAC support in gstreamer
I realized that the problem was due to the fact I tried to set up a
static connection for my ethernet card via Network Manager's "static
configuration.." just before turning the PC off. (The problem appeared
when I started the machine back)
The fact that NetworkManager fails to handle the static

I just tested forcing the edgy version of 1.4.5. It produces the same
results. Rolling even further back to 1.4.4 from Medibuntu (unsupported,
I know) results in the process not even starting.

That begs the question, though, of what caused 1.4.5 to not work
anymore. Did you do a clean install of Herd 3 or have you been dist-
upgrading through the process or from an edgy installation?
