I was wondering if this problem would be caused by my plugins/profile or
something like that, so I used a fresh vanilla user and tried to
reproduce it.
I succeeded a first time without gdb, and a second time with gdb, with

First, Xephyr is a better than Xnest and should be used instead of
Xephyr so the recommandation is good. Why is Xephyr only a Universe...
I don't know maybe it's not mature / stable enough. I personally

There is a symlink problem.
I can't tell if it was fixed on edgy freshinstall, but on the upgrade from
dapper it wasn't.

Michael,
memtest found some bits of bad memory on this laptop. After many tries
of dist-upgrade I'm back on a functional system. So let me know if
there's anything I can upload to confirm/close this one.
Also I wonder if theres a bug dealing with BadRAM in Ubuntu.

Yes, the solution proposed by Tobias works. Would be good to figure out
how to update the package so that it fixes for everyone else. I suspect
deleting the workspace is not needed, as long as eclipse is run with
-clean first time round.

I can confirm I am having the same issues. "dmesg | grep ndisw" shows
the following.

For gdm, at the top of /etc/X11/gdm/Xsession, there is
PROGNAME=Xsession, so another solution is to add this condition before
including ~/.bashrc in ~/.bash_profile :
# include .bashrc if it exists
if [ "$PROGNAME" != "Xsession" -a -f ~/.bashrc ]; then
. ~/.bashrc
fi
and create a link ~/.prof
I have the same problem ... and I need this file ;)
