i have the same problem! it's a major stress cos i can't get on the net
with my netgear pcmcia
- plus when i plug a regular LAN connection in also that won't work
despite being able to set it's properties...
becuase i use wireless in two places i tried to change the location at
the top of the net
from /etc/init.d/bootclean on feisty:

Your change is not a documented one and doesn't look like a gdm bug,

if you want to add wine 32bit packages to 64bit archs, please add new
binary packages to it, like (lib)wine32, which are only build on 64bit
archs like amd64 or emt64.
Don't use libwine/wine package names, because they should be reserved
for arch dependent packages.

To close this bug, nautilus should check free space before trying to
write an image, and pre-allocate the image just like peer-to-peer
programs do in order to avoid running out of disk space while writing. A
DVD image can be huge.

on my i386 i removed the system.menu file from /home/.config/menus and
removed the system.menu file from xdg
then i did the force confmiss command and reinstalled gnome-menus from
the apt archive...

Jonah, a fix hasn't been released yet. Until then, you can configure settings
manually in /etc/network/interfaces. For the wired connection, this should be
enough in most cases:
