is IMHO wrong because apps like gaim depend on the session manager instead of
an "autostart" like in windows.

The problem still occurs. I tried to install gnome-system-tools-dbgsym,

It didn't work for me in dapper, but as I already said it did work in gentoo
many months ago before I switched to dapper.
It might be a good idea to try and use the more recent mesa release versioned:

This problem certainly does appear to be related to the edgy kernel. The
best solution for me was to reinstall the the dapper kernel and
restricted modules package on the server – this fixed my NFS and also
keeps my nVidia graphics card happy. All NFS clients can continue to run
the edgy kernel.

Yes, I've had this happen a few times too... it seems to help immensely
by running "kdeinit" and letting that finish before launching a
ktorrent.
Also, the use of Xgl or any kind of compositing window manager seems to
make it worse, too.

rf_kill method to switch the radio off... I only have tried ipw2100
and ipw2200. Do you know it?

Logitech MX900 connected via internal bluetooth adaptor.
Laptop attempted to sleep while using the mouse. Keyboard and ADB
touchpad had not been active for some time therefore perhaps the acpi
daemon also needs to register bluetooth device

I experienced the bug in 2.6.17.1-10.34.
On the linux-nfs mailing list, it was suggested that adding
no_subtree_check to the options in /etc/exports is a workaround:

The rt2x00 CVS (not legacy) drivers do as well. rf_kill is one of the
topics coming up at the Wireless Summit week after next, but it wont

The kernel oopses when loading the sata_promise module. My board is a
MSI K8T Neo2 - FIR and disabling the Promise Controller in the BIOS
doesn't help. :-(
The only workaround to be able to boot seems to be:
rm /lib/modules/

It's a UK keyboard BTW.
I have just noticed that Alt does give me "€" from Alt-2, as printed on
the key which is good. It would be ideal to retain this functionality if
xorg.conf needs a different keymap.
Other keyboard layout gripes:
* Shift_3 should give "£" but in fact gives "#"
* The "~`" (
