This package has been removed from the Ubuntu development release, so I
am closing all remaining open bug reports.
Sorry that we couldn't fix your problem properly, but gpointing-device-
settings is dead upstream, buggy and completely unmaintained.

I have the same problem.
The problem appeared in the ubuntu 10.10 but when I typed "Alt + TAB" or "Alt +
F1", for example, the touchpad back to work. I reinstall the Ubuntu 10.10 some
times and the problem continued. After update to 11.04, "Alt + TAB" or "Alt +
F1" don't work more, I have that
Turns out that removing "Pointing devices" solved the problem and re-
installing it caused the problem again so re-assigning to gpointing-
device-settings

It happens every time I log in. The "Pointing devices" application
(gpointing-device-settings 1.5.1-4) is something I installed from the
software centre as it enables management of multiple devices - the
default 'Mouse' application only manages the default. This happens on
every log in, regardles
Hmm, I'm not familiar with the dialog you're referring to. How did you
get to it? I checked the Mouse dialog but there is no "Disable
touchpad" checkbox option.
Does this happen every time you log in, or did it occur just the one
time?
You mentioned having bluetooth enabled. Does it not occur
