this command in a terminal? lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.txt
This is necessary since this will give us more information about your
graphic card.

Thanks for your contribution to ubuntu. Can you test if this problem
still happens in latest linux ubuntu gutsy/development hardy release?
And if you can still reproduce that issue on one of these two releases,
can you provide the following informations? :
1. What version ubuntu release you tested
For me, I had to restart the x server and then everything worked fine.
But mine sounds different, because it would never get past that. It
might be worth a shot though.

Exactly the same problem here, if I remove the "splash" parameter from the boot
string it seems to work fine.
but when it has the "splash" parameter sometimes it freezes after that same
message:
"usplash: Setting mode 1280x1024 failed
