for me by adding acpi_sleep=nonvs to grub.

Yesterday, I performed a fresh maverick install on a sony vaio VGN-SR41M (on a
new SSD) and I appear to be having very similar problems.
Using suspend, it appears to work successfully, there are no errors reported in
/var/log/pm-suspend.log but hitting the power button triggers a reboot.

You're right, I forgot some important things.
I'm on 10.10 with 2.6.35-20-generic (updated now), but this happens on 10.04
and on 9.10 too.
The machine was assembled by me, but you will find better infos on reports sent
by apport. :)
