Got the exact same problem in 10.04.1. With heave diskload, for instance
rsync, the system goes down and needs a hard reboot.
When downgrading to a 9.10 kernel (2.6.28-19-server), everything works

I got exactly the same problem, on Ubuntu 10.04.1 64bit :
Did you find any workaround by tweaking the parameters in the 3ware BIOS ?
Could it be caused by the 64 bit system ?
