I don't believe this bug is a duplicate. Bug #539467 pertains to SATA
controller errors and corresponding hard disk corruption. This bug is
about wireless issues.

On a 1 year old laptop? I just ran a health check on my hard drives, and
it's checking out without issue. I'm not having any kind of read/write
issues, or any kind of software crashing.
It appears as though it could be a bug in the kernel:

Try googling for this to see if there's a workaround

Hello
NP, you can easily remove the non working kernel from synaptic, but I need to
know 2 things.
Is your pc set to autosuspend when idle (that mean a resume failure that you
can workaround with the screensaver settings)?
When pc is working the connection is good?
Thanks

Fabio,
No, rebooting the laptop. Rebooting the router makes no difference to
signal strength.

I have no had an issue as of lately. However, my wireless signal seems

brings the wireless signal back up to full strength. Doesn't seem to

I had this exact issue on my Intel 5100 wireless card for a long time.
Numerous kernel updates have not fixed it. FYI. The trick I learned
which would greatly improve the connection stability is to disable the N
feature of the device by creating a file:
/etc/modprobe.d/intel-5300-iwlagn-disable11n
So far, yes. I did the updates yesterday, and restarted the computer.
Later on that evening, the issue returned. Had to restart again to
regain connectivity.

Yeah, 9.10 was flawless, and now things aren't working.
The newest Kernel does not get rid of the problem, though it does make it

I didn't have this problem whatsoever with 9.10. I upgraded from 9.10 to
10.04 and the problem arose. Every subsequent kernel upgrade doesn't fix
the issue. I'm using 2.6.32-24-generic right now, and still having the

If I start disconnecting again, I'll come back and post an update here.
