This bug is known upstream in OpenOffice. It is fixed in the 3.3
release. The Ubuntu packagers also know about this bug. The current
workaround is to (1) immediately switch (after starting your video) to
the "Slides" view and switch back. This will kill the double audio. Or

explain when the echo is expected to be heard, eg if it is just on one
particular slide etc.

When using the presenter console, any slide with a video in it will
create a horrible echo due the the two copies of the video that show.
One shows on the projector and one for the presenter, but they are not
in sync, and this causes a horrible echo. The sound for the presenter
video is not needed,
the bug creates a lag between the two sound streams giving the auditory
impression of an echo
