This is still a problem, using Kubuntu 9.10 (fully updated) and a HP

I tried various Pdf programs (Kpdf, xpdf, adobe reader), but the error
persists, i assume they all use lpr.
Before, i used Kubuntu 8.04, there i had this problem only with kpdf. other

This is still affecting me. Hardy 8.04.3 LTS/kpdf/HP 2300.
Always prints documents in duplex along the long axis. Since Hardy is
LTS We need to get the fix back ported from Intrepid to Hardy soon.
This has been a bug for far too long.
Does anyone have a solution or work around in Hardy?

Hello,
hope someone can help us is there now any fix for KPDF? We have the same
duplex problems with Ubuntu 8.04.1 and KPDF 0.5.10 (KDE 3.5.10).
or did it works on ubuntu 8.10?
or can i install on a ubuntu server another kpdf version without this
problem that is not from ubuntu?

Just discovered this with Hardy too. Duplex is stuck on and the settings
ignored, a bit like this bug (2 years!!). I thought Hardy was an LTS, so
how come changing to Intrepid is classed as a fix?

The bug obviously remains in kpdf.
The bug remains in hardy.
Hardy is still supported so I think this bug should be fixed in hardy and in

If I should switch to okular, does that mean I also have to install kde4?

I think the same happens to me with 3.5.10 & hardy:
FYI: I can't even select it to print duplex, it claims the driver
doesn't support it or something. The printer is capable to print duplex.

2) Printed a ~20 page document, 4 pages/side: no dup

On uninstalling of kpdf, kghostview was uninstalled as well, but then on
install of this debian kpdf, kghostview was not needed, apparently, it
prints OK, single page, single side.

I confirm this bug with identical symptoms in HP 2015dn. Unfortunately,

I'll add my own confirmation - Toshiba eStudio printer, Hardy 64-bit, KDE

since it has multiple confirmations and there seems to be a simple fix (ie stop

Printer: Dell mfp 3115cn.

of paper for a given job. Son cannot print.

I can confirm the bug on Hardy. Again, as mentioned above, installing the
package for feisty from
http://kubuntu.org/packages/kde-358/pool/kdegraphics/kpdf_3.5.8-0ubuntu1~feisty1_i386.deb
works fine for me.
WHY does nobody react on this problem? This bug should be considered as
a severe problem.
This makes me want to scream. As already noted this makes kpdf
*unusable* for quite a few users. I simply can't understand how it comes
about that this major showstopper isn't fixed for godsakes YEARS now.

I think it was already mentioned that this is still present in KPDF
0.5.6/KDE 3.5.6. This is probably also already obvious (since poppler

specific to HP printers - I have the same problem with a Samsung ML-

I just found out that the unsupported KPDF 3.5.7 packages for edgy

also landscape printing works fine again - see bug 47649).

Is anyone from Ubuntu ever going to respond to this?
I have been lurking for months waiting for a resolution.
For the record... same issue here. LaserJet 2200dtn.
Been happening since some time during 6.10. I just upgraded to 7.04, and
was appalled to see that the bug had not been fixed.

I can confirm this on Kubuntu Feisty Beta (kpdf 0.5.6). I have an HP LaserJet

What's wrong with the original non patched KPDF? This bug makes Kubuntu's KPDF
absolutely unusable :(

According to KDE's bugzilla this is due to the poppler patch used by (K)Ubuntu.
