I think it was already mentioned that this is still present in KPDF 0.5.6/KDE 3.5.6. This is probably also already obvious (since poppler seems to be at fault here) but I still wanted to add that this is not specific to HP printers - I have the same problem with a Samsung ML- 3051ND.
